HyuCode (the "Operator") sets out below how user information is handled in the speedcubing app CubeNook (iOS and Android; the "App") and its website (cubenook.xyz; the "Website").
1. Information stored on your device
The App stores the following information only on your device and does not send it to the Operator's servers. The App has no account registration.
- Learning status for each case, the algorithms you chose, and algorithms you added
- Review schedules, timer and practice records
- Settings such as display, appearance and cube orientation
This information is erased from your device when you delete the App.
2. Smart cubes
When you use a smart cube, the App asks for Bluetooth permission and communicates directly between the supported cube and your device to receive its turns and state. The received information and the device name are not sent off your device.
3. Information sent to external services
The App uses the following external services. Each service handles information according to the policies of its provider.
- Google AdMob (Google LLC)
- Purpose: showing ads, measuring ad performance and preventing fraud.
Information: advertising ID (Advertising ID on Android; IDFA on iOS if you allow it), App Set ID, IP address and the approximate location estimated from it, device, OS and app information, and ad views and taps.
The Operator requests ads that are not based on your interests (non-personalized ads). - Firebase Analytics (Google LLC)
- Purpose: understanding usage and improving the App.
Information: app instance ID, screen views, usage time, device, OS and app version, and the country or region estimated from the IP address. On iOS, the advertising ID (IDFA) is not collected and use for advertising is disabled. - Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC)
- Purpose: investigating and fixing bugs.
Information: crash and error details, device, OS and app version, and a per-installation identifier. - Firebase Performance Monitoring (Google LLC)
- Purpose: improving speed and stability.
Information: startup, network and loading times, screen rendering times, memory usage, and device, OS and app version. - Cloud Firestore (Google LLC)
- Purpose: loading introductions to the Operator's other apps. No user information is written.
- Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.)
- Purpose: delivering case images and the Website.
Communication with any of these services necessarily includes your IP address and the type of device and app. Diagnostic information (Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring) does not include names, email addresses, learning records, algorithms you entered or smart cube device names.

4. Ads and your choices
- In regions where the law requires consent, the App asks for your consent before showing ads. You can review your choice at any time under Settings › Ad privacy settings in the App.
- On iOS, the App asks for permission through App Tracking Transparency before loading ads. If you do not allow it, ads are shown without the IDFA.
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings (iOS: Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking; Android: Settings › Privacy › Ads).
- All learning, practice and tracking features work without consent or permission.
5. Purposes of use
The Operator uses the information obtained to provide, maintain and improve the App, investigate bugs, show ads, prevent fraud and respond to inquiries.
6. Disclosure to third parties
Except as described in Section 3 or as required by law, the Operator does not provide user information to third parties. The Operator does not sell user information.
7. Processing outside Japan
The providers in Section 3 may handle information on servers outside Japan, including in the United States. Please see each provider's policy above for how they handle and protect information.
8. Retention and deletion
Information on your device is erased when you delete the App. Information sent to external services is retained according to each service's settings and policies. The Operator may not be able to identify individual users from that information, but will respond to requests for disclosure or deletion as far as possible if you contact us.
9. The Website
The Website uses no cookies, analytics or ads. In delivering it, Cloudflare handles access logs (IP address, browser type and pages viewed).
10. Children
The Operator does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child's information has been sent, a parent or guardian should contact us.
11. Changes to this policy
The Operator may change this policy. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a new last-updated date. Significant changes will be announced in the App or on the Website.
